Good Deeds Day Ceylon – Donation Policy

Purpose:
This policy outlines the procedures and principles for accepting and managing donations to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with Good Deeds Day Ceylon’s mission.

1. Types of Donations Accepted:
Good Deeds Day Ceylon welcomes donations in the following forms:

  • Monetary Contributions: Cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and online payments.
  • In-Kind Donations: Goods, services, equipment, or supplies that directly support our programs.

2. Donation Acceptance Guidelines:

  • All donations must support Good Deeds Day Ceylon’s mission and values.
  • Donations that conflict with our mission, create a reputational risk, or come from illegal or unethical sources may be declined.
  • The organization reserves the right to refuse donations that are impractical, excessively restrictive, or require disproportionate resources to manage.

3. Valuation and Acknowledgment:

  • Donors will receive a receipt acknowledging the donation for tax purposes, but the organization does not assign a value to in-kind donations; the donor is responsible for valuation.
  • Gifts may be publicly recognized unless the donor requests anonymity.

4. Use of Donations:

  • Donations will be used for purposes consistent with Good Deeds Day Ceylon’s mission.
  • Restricted donations will be applied only to the program or purpose specified by the donor.

5. Transparency and Reporting:

  • Good Deeds Day Ceylon commits to accurate record-keeping and reporting of donations.
  • Donors may request information on how their contribution was used.

Donation Acceptance Policy

Purpose:
This policy defines the criteria for evaluating, accepting, or declining donations to protect Good Deeds Day Ceylon, its beneficiaries, and its reputation.

1. Evaluation of Donations:

  • Each donation will be reviewed to ensure it aligns with Good Deeds Day Ceylon’s mission, objectives, and ethical standards.
  • Potential risks, such as legal, financial, or reputational implications, will be assessed.

2. Restricted or Conditional Gifts:

  • Restricted gifts will be accepted only if the organization can honor the donor’s conditions without compromising its mission or operations.
  • Conditional gifts requiring ongoing obligations may be declined if they exceed Good Deeds Day Ceylon’s capacity.

3. In-Kind Donations:

  • All in-kind donations must be evaluated for usefulness, condition, and associated costs (storage, maintenance, or disposal).
  • The organization reserves the right to decline in-kind gifts that are not practical or require excessive resources.

4. Recognition and Reporting:

  • Donors will be acknowledged in a manner consistent with their wishes and organizational policy.
  • Records of accepted and declined donations will be maintained for transparency and auditing purposes.

5. Declining Donations:
Good Deeds Day Ceylon may decline donations for the following reasons:

  • The donation conflicts with the mission, values, or policies of the organization.
  • Acceptance would create legal, financial, or reputational risk.
  • The cost of managing or maintaining the donation is unreasonable.
